Retired membership

Retired members have a special place at the LI. Retired membership allows those formerly practicing as a CMLI or an FLI, to continue to be part of our network of landscape professionals and keep abreast of the current issues and ideas within the industry. You can help the next generations by providing insight and experience into policies and practice as the LI continues to adapt and evolve. 

Our retired members no longer have formal CPD requirements but that doesn’t mean they can’t keep up to date with the latest industry activities with free and discounted access to LI Campus and our CPD events.

Prerequisites

If you’ve previously been a CMLI or FLI and are no longer in practice or have retired then you can become a retired member of the institute.

The rules regarding retired membership are covered by the LI’s governing documents in My LI.

Post nominals

Retired members may continue to use their previous designation provided that their retired status is indicated, for example: CMLI (Retired) / FLI (Retired)

Benefits of membership

Get free access to Campus, our vast library of high-quality, on-demand CPD videos (with discounts on Premium content). Campus includes webinars and masterclasses, as well as sessions from our CPD days, conferences and other events.   

As Retired members are still part of a vast network of landscape professionals in a breadth of roles across the sector and will continue to be listed on our member directory.

If you were part of a Registered Practice, they can list any projects you were involved in in our case studies directory.

As a retired member, you’re still part of your local branch, and can attend branch events, and get updates on activities in other branches. Find out what’s going on in your area.

 

You’ll continue to receive a print copy of the quarterly Landscape Journal, which provides in-depth insight into the issues at the forefront of the landscape industry and the innovative solutions the industry has taken to tackle these.  

Important information

To become a retired member you simply need to contact the membership team at membership@landscapeinstitute.org to let them know your change in status.

Fees will be pro-rated to the beginning of the previous quarter.

The membership year runs from 1st June through to the 31st May
