The Landscape Institute’s Employer-Led Projects programme brings together schools, colleges, and local registered practices to provide students aged 16–19 with meaningful, work-related learning experiences. These projects enable students to experience Landscape Architecture, and the landscape profession more broadly, in action, helping them to develop a deeper understanding of the diverse skills and knowledge the career requires.
By making clear connections between Landscape Architecture and their own subjects and interests, students can see how their learning applies to real-world contexts. This engagement not only broadens their awareness of the profession but also inspires them to consider landscape as a meaningful and rewarding career pathway.

Developed by the LI Education Team, the model follows a multi-stage framework that includes a minimum of three structured interactions between the employer and student cohort. This approach ensures a deeper and more sustained impact. It enhances curriculum relevance, supports educator understanding, and provides students with a more engaging and authentic experience than standalone activities such as careers talks.
