A new funding opportunity is now available for students interested in studying postgraduate Landscape Architecture in Scotland. The new Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland Masters Grants have been introduced to support fair access to postgraduate study, helping more students access advanced education regardless of background or financial circumstance.
The two-year full-time Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) at the University of Edinburgh is one of the eligible programmes for this funding. Offered through the Edinburgh College of Art, the MLA is designed for students who want to develop a socially and environmentally aware design practice while engaging with some of the most urgent challenges facing landscapes and communities today.
The programme welcomes applicants from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds. Whether you come from art, architecture, geography, ecology, planning, or another creative discipline, the MLA offers the opportunity to build new skills in landscape-led design, research, and critical thinking. Through studio work, field-based learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration, students are encouraged to explore how landscape architecture can contribute to more resilient, inclusive, and ecologically responsive futures.
This is a programme for creative people who care deeply about the living planet and want to use design as a tool for positive change. Students develop their own design approach while benefiting from the University’s international reputation for research, teaching, and innovation in the built environment disciplines.
Applications for the MLA are open until 29 June 2026. More information about the programme and how to apply can be found here.
