Innovation in Infrastructure Award

LI Awards – Professional Category

About this award

This award, newly introduced for 2026, recognises excellence in landscape projects where infrastructure is not treated as a constraint, but as an opportunity. It celebrates designs that integrate transportation, utilities, flood control, energy, or civic systems into the landscape in ways that are functional, resilient, and meaningful to people and place.

Recognition will be given to projects that demonstrate how landscape can transform essential infrastructure into places that support ecological health, climate adaptation, and everyday public life. This could include innovation in systems thinking, technical rigour, and long-term performance, while also achieving high standards of beauty, accessibility, and social value.

This award acknowledges projects that redefine infrastructure as landscape: connective, adaptive, and deeply embedded in the cultural and environmental fabric of their context. It also recognises excellence in strategic infrastructure where there is an opportunity to deliver landscape-led legacies.
