Who is Academic Membership for?

Have you completed an LI-accredited course and/or have experience, or are you employed in teaching/research in an area that has relevance to the landscape profession? Then you’re eligible to apply for academic membership.

Academic Membership of the Landscape Institute affirms your role in shaping future practitioners and advancing landscape knowledge. It provides a respected platform to influence curricula, champion research, and connect academia with practice. This membership strengthens your voice, fosters collaboration, and enhances your impact on the profession’s intellectual and educational direction.

Benefits of membership

Get free access to Campus (with discounts on Premium content), our vast library of high-quality, on-demand CPD videos. Campus includes webinars and masterclasses, as well as sessions from our CPD days, conferences and other events.

As members you’re part of a vast network of landscape professionals in a breadth of roles across the natural and built environment. You’ll be listed on our member directory where you can be discovered by prospective customers, employers and peers.

If you’re part of a Registered Practice, you’ll also be able to list any projects you’ve been involved in in our case studies directory.

Our branches are at the heart of the work we do. We have 12 LI branches across the UK, plus one for international members. As a member, you can join your local branch, attend their events, and get updates on activities in other branches. You can also vote for your local branch committee and nominate yourself as branch chair, secretary, or as a general committee member. Find out what’s going on in your area.

Keeping up to date with your own professional development and staying ahead with current practice is important for all professionals in the landscape sector. That’s why all LI members get free or discounted access to all of our live  online and in-person events. We hold regular webinars and masterclasses, delivered by industry experts, to keep you informed about technical, policy and business matters.

We offer discounted rates on insurance services, free legal advice and a pension scheme. If you work for a Registered Practice then let them know that they can receive a free initial consultation for bespoke insurance, tailored to the industry, through LI Insurance Services.

We also offer discounts on JCLI contracts

You’ll receive a print copy of the quarterly Landscape Journal, which provides in-depth insight into the issues at the forefront of the landscape industry and the innovative solutions the industry has taken to tackle these.
