Chartered Membership (CMLI)

Who is Chartered Membership for?

Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) is an internationally recognised qualification for anyone that wishes to expand their skills, knowledge and career development opportunities.

It is the pre-eminent standard for professionals working in all aspects of landscape design, planning, management, science, and urban design. Chartership confirms that you have met the highest standards in both education and practice and it acknowledges your commitment to both professional integrity and the maintenance of this standard through continued professional development.

In an increasingly competitive and diverse profession, Chartered membership is the ideal way to develop your career and increase your earning potential.

The membership year runs from 1 June through to the 31 May.

Professional recognition

As a Chartered professional your advice and opinion is recognised and sought after by both colleagues and clients. In addition, your Chartered status enables you to give evidence at public inquiries, where your professional opinion will be called upon and respected.

Pathway route

The main route to becoming a CMLI is to join the Pathway to Chartership (P2C) as an Associate member.

Experienced route

Your application will be assessed against existing chartered status, work, academic experience, and your knowledge of UK law and practice.
