{"id":16024,"date":"2016-02-25T13:06:04","date_gmt":"2016-02-25T13:06:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/429"},"modified":"2026-05-21T09:09:49","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T09:09:49","slug":"board-of-trustees","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/landscapeinstitute.org\/about\/governance-and-structure\/board-of-trustees\/","title":{"rendered":"Board of Trustees"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"page\" data-elementor-id=\"16024\" class=\"elementor elementor-16024\" data-elementor-post-type=\"page\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3f0846a9 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"3f0846a9\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-112ead6b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"112ead6b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>Role<\/h2><p>The Board of Trustees has ultimate responsibility for the activities of the Landscape Institute, in line with the requirements of the Charities Act 1993 and as prescribed by the Royal Charter, By-Laws and Regulations.<\/p><p>The role of the Board is to:<\/p><ul><li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Ensure that the Institute has a clear vision and a strategy focused on its achievements<\/li><li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Ensure that the Institute meets its objectives as set out in the Charter and retains its ethos and values<\/li><li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Ensure that the Institute complies with its legal and regulatory requirements<\/li><li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Ensure that expert advice is taken from members, Council and standing committees before decisions are made<\/li><li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Act as guardians of the Institute&#8217;s assets, both tangible and intangible, and ensure the financial stability of the organisation<\/li><li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Agree performance targets for the Chief Executive and hold the staff team to account<\/li><\/ul><p>The Board&#8217;s role and responsibilities are set out in its <a href=\"https:\/\/landscapeinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Board-of-Trustees-Terms-of-Reference-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Terms of Reference<\/a> and all Trustees are also subject to the <a href=\"https:\/\/landscapeinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Trustee-Code-of-Conduct-Feb-2025-.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trustees Code of Conduct<\/a>.<\/p><p>The LI <a href=\"https:\/\/landscapeinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/LI-Working-Together-Policy-April-2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Working Together Policy<\/a> supports members, staff, contractors, LI bodies including Board and Council working together in a professional and supportive way.<\/p><h3>\u00a0<\/h3><h2>Structure<\/h2><p>The Board has legal responsibility for the charity and meets at least 4 times a year.
