The New Ways of Working is about fostering a culture of collaboration and consultation between the people that shape our organisation, including the members, volunteers, Board, and staff. By putting members at the heart of decision-making it will enable us to deliver on our purpose in accordance with our values<\/a>.<\/p>

Our goal is to create an organisation that values its staff and members. The New Ways of Working is the golden thread running through everything the LI does, from underpinning the next Corporate strategy to business as usual and volunteering.<\/p>

The LI Board of Trustees<\/strong>\u00a0add that \u201cThe LI has a vital role to play in addressing the climate and biodiversity emergencies, and creating a working environment in which its members, staff, and volunteers feel a combined strength and unity of vision is an essential part of delivering on this. Developing our ways of working to become the Institute we all want to be is a long-term and collaborative process, but great strides have already been made, and we\u2019re confident that together, we can make a difference.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

A clear, improved, member-centric\u00a0<\/span>and differentiated value proposition\u00a0<\/span>that will deliver new business\u00a0<\/span>models, products and services is the\u00a0<\/span>focus of the 2024\/25 business plan.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>

One of the priorities of the digital transformation\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is to support and enable New Ways of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Working so that different parts of our\u00a0<\/span><\/span>organisation can work together to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>build a more open and transparent\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Institute and ensure that members\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/span>views and priorities are at the heart of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>both our decision-making processes,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and our advocacy work on behalf of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the profession.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Improving how we develop and approach policy and technical guidance <\/div><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t<\/span>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/summary>\n\t\t\t\t

A Task and Finish Group has been set\u00a0<\/span><\/span>up to improve the way we develop\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and approve policy and technical\u00a0<\/span><\/span>guidance. They will review the roles of the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Standing Committees, Advisory\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Council, Branch Committees and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>members in that process and how\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the digital transformation will support New Ways\u00a0<\/span><\/span>of Working that will put all the people\u00a0<\/span><\/span>that shape our organisation at the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>heart of decision making.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Examining how to promote two-way engagement with branches and how they link to Advisory Council <\/div><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t<\/span>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/summary>\n\t\t\t\t

Review the future role and ways of\u00a0<\/span>working of country and regional\u00a0<\/span>branches and branch committees,\u00a0<\/span>which will support and enable them to\u00a0<\/span>meet their branch members\u2019\u00a0<\/span>expectations.<\/span><\/p>

Strengthen the\u00a0<\/span>way branches work with other parts\u00a0<\/span>of the organisation to ensure that\u00a0<\/span>members\u2019 views and priorities are at\u00a0<\/span>the heart of both our decision-making\u00a0<\/span>processes, and our advocacy work on\u00a0<\/span>behalf of the profession.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Introducing a new Board Committee structure to increase its capacity and strengthen decision-making <\/div><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t<\/span>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/summary>\n\t\t\t\t

The Board will ensure that the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>findings of the Brown Review and the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>CfGS<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Report are considered and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>implemented as appropriate,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>review the specific\u00a0<\/span><\/span>recommendations relating to the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Board, and address the identified\u00a0<\/span><\/span>problems and associated risks.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

A new People, Culture and Change Committee has been established to provide objective review, <\/span>strategic oversight and assurance to <\/span>the Board that the LI is discharging its <\/span>statutory responsibilities relating to <\/span>its people, the culture for the <\/span>organisation and the equity, diversity <\/span>and inclusion agenda. <\/span>\u200b<\/p>

\u200bThe committee will ensure <\/span>the <\/span>outstanding work from the Brown <\/span>review and the recommendations <\/span>from the <\/span>CfGS<\/span> Report relating to <\/span>culture of the organisation and the <\/span>staff and volunteer experience are <\/span>taken into account.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Ensuring the LI has best practice governance arrangements and up-to-date documentation, policies and procedures <\/div><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t<\/span>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/summary>\n\t\t\t\t

A new Governance <\/span><\/span>Committee has been establieshed to recommend to the <\/span><\/span>Board how the outstanding work <\/span><\/span>from the Brown review and the <\/span><\/span>recommendations from the <\/span><\/span>CfGS<\/span><\/span> Report should be taken forward in an <\/span><\/span>implementation plan which members <\/span><\/span>will be consulted on. <\/span><\/span><\/p>

It will oversee <\/span><\/span>and monitor the delivery of the plan <\/span><\/span>as part of our Business Plans for <\/span><\/span>2023\/24 and 2024\/25. <\/span><\/span>\u200b<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
